Selah for April 1, 2008 - “Sunrise”
One Sunday morning as the sun was rising, our great God painted an incredible sunrise for all who were awake and outside. I happened to be one of those early risers. The clouds were lying right on the horizon line along the mountains as the sun started to peek its way up and over. The clouds then accommodated the sun by splitting apart ever so slightly and allowing the sun to shine through. When the hole in the clouds formed a larger opening, the sun’s rays burst forth and formed a spotlight on the church. The church glowed with a fresh and vibrant radiance that left me speechless before my God. The quietness that fell upon the area was captivating. The traffic on Highway 62 seemed to cease, and the road noise vanished for a time. There was a haze in this beacon of light that God was casting down upon the church that morning, almost whispering the words “The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings.” Malachi 4:2
During this God-moment for me I was reminded of a song written by Paul Baloche and Matt Redman entitled, “Rising” (2006 Integrity Music). This one song is among so many other wonderful songs on the CD titled A Greater Song by Paul Baloche. God in His provision allowed me to have this CD in my possession that morning. I played it and wept with an overwhelming gratitude to a God who loves us soooo much. Here are some of the words to this song “Rising.”
“From the rising of the sun ’til the sun goes down, let the name of the Lord be praised. We’re gathered to worship, becoming a choir to sing Your praise. Lifting up our voices, joining our hearts in this house today. People of God in the power of God for the kingdom of God we sing. We’re gathered to go out, to cities and towns we’ll take Your name. Into the nations, shining Your light in the darkest place. People of God in the power of God for the kingdom of God we live. From the rising of the sun ’til the sun goes down. Let the name of the Lord be praised.” I urge you to purchase the CD. You will be blessed and bring blessing to the Lord God Almighty singing it to Him.
I will cherish that sunrise for a long time to come. I am so thankful to a God who loves us so much that during His sleepless nights He creates sunrises and sunsets for us to spend time thinking about Him. My prayer for you is that you, the one who was created, will think about God, your Creator. How great is the Father’s love that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to save a people like us and then provide the Holy Spirit to empower, teach, convict, train, comfort, and so much more for us. His deep desire is for all to be saved and arrive in heaven to enjoy His glorious presence for all eternity.
