SELAH
Today we live with more knowledge than we really know what to do with. The media resources we have access to are numerous and have birthed confusion in many areas. For some people, there is confusion about the definition of “Eternal Life.” What it is and how do we get it? To find the true definition for “Eternal Life” we must turn to the truest resource, the Bible, God’s Word.
In John 17:3, Jesus, in midst of His prayer to God the Father, said, “And this is the way to have eternal life -- to know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the One You sent to earth.” Jesus Christ, a mighty, humble, wise Savior, does not tax us with big words or confusing definitions. He speaks simply and clearly. His message exposes both the way to and the most important element for everlasting happiness. So, do you want to know?
Found in this verse is a very important word used by Jesus. The word is “know.” The way it is used here means, “To be acquainted with by experience.” It is the present-tense verb and it reflects continued, growing knowledge of Jesus Christ. To get and grow in this knowledge, you must make a commitment to spend time with Jesus Christ. How do you do that, you may ask?
Well, by reading about Him in the Bible, especially the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Speak to Him through prayer, but also take, or should I say leave, some time to listen to what He is trying to tell you. Attend classes and church services to get to know Him more and His followers. He makes Himself available, but do you?
May you get to know the Lord Jesus Christ, understand the love of God the Father, and live in the fellowship of the precious Holy Spirit each day.
